Leonardo Dicaprio is an American actor, environmental activist and film producer who was born on 11 November 1974. In the early 1990s, he began his career by appearing in TV commercials. Dicaprio began his film career by starring in the film ‘Critters 3’. In this film, he played a role of a stepson of an evil landlord. Leonardo co-starred as the mentally handicapped brother of Johnny Depp’s character in ‘ What’s Eating Gilbert Grape’. Dicaprio achieved National Board of Review Award and also nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his portrayal.

DiCaprio appears in Baz Luhrmann’s film ‘Romeo Juliet, which retained the original Shakespearean dialogue. This film earned the profit of $147 million worldwide.

Leonardo DiCaprio starred in the film ‘Titanic’ as 20-year-old Jack Dawson. Cameron believes in his acting so he encourages Leonardo to pursue his role in Titanic.

In 2002, the first film of DiCaprio was a biographical crime drama film ‘Catch Me If You Can’. This film received favourable reviews and proved to be an international hit.

Since 2002 till now, DiCaprio has given many blockbuster films.

It is announced that Leonardo will play the role of ‘Sam Phillips’ (fourth coming film based on Peter Guralnick’s book Sam Phillips), who invented Rock N Roll.

Apart from the Film career, Leonardo established the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998. It is a non-profit organisation which is devoted to promoting environmental awareness.
