People have several questions that what is cancer and how it affects our body? So, Cancer is abnormal growth of cells with the potential to spread to other body parts. There are several types of cancer including, skin cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer. The treatment of cancer may include radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy.

People thought, all tumors are cancerous, but it’s not. Benign tumors do not spread to other body parts.

Symptoms

In the beginning stage, cancer produces no sign and symptoms. Symptoms appear as the mass grows. Mass effects from lung cancer. It can block the bronchus resulting in a cough. General symptoms may include fever, unintentional weight loss, and changes to the skin. Some cancer may cause a specific group of systemic symptoms is termed as Paraneoplastic Syndrome.

Causes

In 90-95 % of cases, cancer occurred due to environmental factors (Tobacco, obesity, infections, radiation, etc.). Remaining 5-10% is due to inherited genetics. Use of Tobacco causes lung cancer. It may also cause cancer in head, neck, stomach, bladder, and kidney. Not only tobacco, even obesity, physical activity are also related to up to 30-35% of cancer deaths.

Viruses are the usual infectious agents that cause cancer. Bacterial infection may also increase the risk of cancer.

Radiations are also a major factor that causes cancer. Approximately 10% of invasive cancer is related to radiation exposure.

Prevention

Avoiding risk factor such as tobacco, obesity, insufficient diet, physical inactivity, alcohol etc. could prevent 30% of cancer death. Taking good diet, Medication and Vaccines helps to prevent cancer.
